STOP START ADDS ‘AT THE
DRIVE IN’ TO ITS INTERNATIONAL CATALOGUE AND RELEASES LIMITED EDITION RE-ISSUES
EXCLUSIVE TO AUSTRALIA
It
is with much excitement and pleasure that Stop
Start announce the arrival of two very important additions to its catalogue
- At The Drive-In’s debut album “Acrobatic Tenement” and their final
studio album to date “Relationship Of
Command”.
At The Drive-In was founded in 1993 by guitarist Jim Ward and lead vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala and their debut
album “Acrobatic Tenement” was a
culmination of three years of touring throughout the United States Of America. “Acrobatic
Tenement”, the band’s first full length studio album was released in July
1996 and was made for a mere $600, but marks the beginning of not only the
bands career, but multiple off shoots as well.
“Relationship of Command” was released at the
turn of the decade and has become the benchmark album for many aspiring rock or
hard-core punk band. It also marked the beginning of the bands
international career and took “the already famed live show” global with tours
of Europe and Japan.
Their
first and only Australian tour came shortly afterwards, playing East Coast
shows at the Big Day Out festival and two headlining side shows in Sydney and
Melbourne. Aside from walking off stage at the
Sydney Big Day Out, citing fears for the
crowds safety due to moshing, and just five weeks later announcing an extended
hiatus for the band (lasting over 10 years), the album still went on to sell
over 40,00 units surpassing Gold status in this market.
In
January of 2012, the band confirmed their reunion and announced their
celebrated comeback with two stellar sets at this year’s Coachella Festival. At The Drive-In soon after were recently announced
for a one off show at this year’s already sold-out ‘Splendour In The Grass’
festival – the band’s first and only show in Australia for over 11 years.
To
celebrate the bands return from extended hiatus, their seminal album “Relationship of Command” will be re-released
with limited edition bonus tracks featuring over 15 minutes of previously
unavailable live material.
This
material is exclusive to the Australian re-issue recorded by triple j for ‘Live At The
Wireless’ during their last Australian
tour, back in January 2001.
“Acrobatic
Tenement” and “Relationship Of Command” will both be
re-released on
Friday 1st
June 2012
